A selection of free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free) hymns and songs, based on themes from the Roman Catholic lectionary for the twenty-nineth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C.
"Free-to-use" means the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing - sometimes in a limited setting. Many of these hymns are old / traditional - but where possible a variety of styles and genres are included.
A small selection of hymns that are still copyright may also be included, if these are particularly relevant.
Psalm: 120 - Our help is in the name of the Lord who made heaven and earth / I lift up my eyes to the mountains / May he never allow you to stumble / The Lord is your guard and your shade / The Lord will guard you from evil.
Second: II Timothy - Scripture is inspired by God and can therefore be used for teaching people to be holy. Your duty is to proclaim the message - with patience and the intention of teaching.
Gospel: Luke - Parable of the judge and the persistent widow: God will see justice done to his chosen who cry to him ... but when the Son of Man comes, will he find any on earth?
See lectionary art for this Sunday for suggested pictures and art-works based on today's readings.
