A selection of hymns and songs, based on themes from the Roman Catholic lectionary for the third Sunday of Ordinary Time, Year A.
Most are free-to-use (ie public domain or copyright-free) meaning the words can be copied and sung to at least one tune with no concerns about copyright or performance licensing. Many such hymns are old/traditional - but where possible a variety of styles / genres are included.
A small selection of hymns which are still copyright, but are a particularly good fit for the day's readings, are also included.
Psalm 26 : The Lord is my light and my help / There is one thing I ask of the Lord / I am sure I shall see the Lord's goodness.
Second: I Corinthians : Paul urges the believes to make up the differences between themselves and to be united in Christ ... rather than having slogans like "I am for Paul" or "I am for Cephas".
Gospel: Matthew - Jesus settled in Capernaum, fulfilling the prophesy of Isaiah "The people that lived in darkness have seen a great light". He calls the fishermen Simon Peter and Andrew to "follow me and I will make you fishers of men". Then he goes all around Galilee, preaching.
