About this feast
The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrates the belief that the Mother of God, was taken, body and soul, when her life on earth was over, into heaven. The hymn suggestions for this day focus on this aspect of Mary's life, and the prescribed readings for the day.Readings
